The local scout-group Heiðabúar is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year
The group has left a mark on the town’s culture as its members appear in their costumes decorated with all sorts of badges and tokens. However the most significant contribution has been their social activity offered to children and young people, enjoying the outdoors and participating in the group‘s activities. However such society is never stronger than it’s members and to survive for so long time requires great time and energy from them. This exhibition depicts a part of their history and what it means to be a scout.

This exhibition seeks to bring alive memories of the verbúð and the life within, verbúð being the accommodation provided by the employers, a dorm-like hall, with rooms for three or four people, male- female divided.
The exhibition consists of a live film and a radio program. The film gives an idea of the rooms and the young people who used to occupy them, and the radio program imitates an old radio show.
