Place of the Heart

Exhibition with paintings of Thingvellir from the private collection of Sverrir Kristinsson will open Friday 9 February at 6 pm. To mark the 100 years of Iceland's sovereignty we reflect upon the value of this important, almost holy place in Iceland for the consciousness of the Icelandic people and simultaneously the affects that Thingvellir has had on the visual arts of the nation.

The paintings in the exhibition are all related to Thingvellir in one way or the other and among the artists are the most influential painters of the 20th century. 

The exhibition and occurences in relation to it is the contribution of Reykjanesbær to the celebrations of the 100 years of Iceland's sovereignty.
