Light and Time

In the last 15 years the Reykjanesbær Art Museum has come into possession of a variety of photographic art pieces some of which are currently on display here  in the Movie Hall. The featured artist are both locals and from further afield; Einar Falur Ingólfsson, Spessa, Katrín Bára Elvarsdóttir, Þórdís Erla Ágústsdóttir, Tom Sandberg, and Vigdís Handhammer. The title of the exhibition refers to the primary elements that make up the media, light and time. The words of John Szarkowski, director of the New York Museum of Modern Art, are also quite relevant to this exhibit when he put forwards the idea that photography could be of two types; mirrors as a “romantic expression of the photographer’s sensibilities” or windows “through which the exterior world is explored in all its  presence and reality”.

Curator is Inga Þórey Jóhannsdóttir.
