Concert with the Polish WATRA ensemble

Sunday 2 June at 3 pm we are offered a unique opportunity to attend a concert with the Polish WATRA ensemble who are here on behalf of the Polish embassy in Iceland to celebrate the 30 years anniversary of Johannes Paul’s II visit to Iceland in 1989. The concert takes place in Duus Museum and are free of charge and open to everyone.

The WATRA Ensemble from the mountain village Czarny Dunajec is directed by Stanisław Bukowski and plays traditional/folk music from Podhale and Carpathian region. During thirty years of activity, it gave more than 500 concerts in Poland, Italy, Sweden, Ukraine, Austria, French, Germany, Denmark. The group is composed of 12 musicians, 5 of them will play in Iceland on June 1st and 2nd : Stanisław Bukowski, violin concertmaster, Jakub Rusiecki violin second concertmaster, Marcin Bukowski violin accompaniment, Grzegorz Bochnak violin accompaniment, Krzysztof Gocał, regional cello and pipes.
